Liquid Intelligent Technologies wins twice at AfricaCom awards including Best Pan African Initiative

Liquid Intelligent Technologies is delighted to announce that it won two awards at last night’s annual AfricaCom awards which celebrate and reward excellence in the African Telecoms, Media and ICT Market.

In the Best Pan African Initiative category, Liquid Intelligent Technologies was recognised for building the East Africa Fibre Ring which connects Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and back into Kenya – the first fully redundant regional fibre ring, connecting these countries to each other and the rest of the world. The ring ensures that people and businesses across the East African community now receive continuity of Internet connectivity and a highly reliable service.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies’s shared MPLS satellite service was named as the VSAT Innovation for Africa. Traditionally end-users requiring MPLS satellite services in Africa have had to buy a dedicated channel on a satellite link. Liquid Intelligent Technologies’s R & D team developed a way to split an MPLS channel so that it could service hundreds of customers at the same time, providing a quality service with 99.5% availability, at a heavily reduced price. Customers include enterprises of all sizes that need a reliable and secure satellite connection.

Nic Rudnick, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, said “I am extremely proud of our team who continue to work hard to create Africa’s digital future. We are an agile and entrepreneurial company which believes that everyone has a right to be connected. We will continue to innovate and set the standard for the African telecoms market.”

During the annual AfricaCom conference and exhibition this week, Liquid Intelligent Technologies unveiled its progress in laying Fibre To The Home over which it is providing homes and small businesses with unlimited data packages and 100Mbps, the fastest broadband ever available in Africa.

The service has already gone live in Zambia through various retail outlets; and in Zimbabwe via retail ISP ZOL Zimbabwe, part of the Liquid Intelligent Technologies Group. Plans are now underway to launch FTTH on a wholesale and retail basis in Kenya, Rwanda and two further countries early next year.

Last week Liquid Intelligent Technologies was named as the Best African Wholesale Carrier for the third year running at the Global Carrier awards where it also took home the award for Best African Project for its work in building the East Africa Fibre Ring.
