Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa launches the first digital computer centre empowering learners in the North West Province

Liquid Intelligent Technologies, a business of Cassava Technologies, a leading pan-African technology group, has announced the opening of a fully equipped, state-of-the-art computer centre, kitted with high-speed connectivity and a full-time assistant, at Sempapa Secondary School in the Makapanstad region of the North-West Province. With the additional sponsorship of 50 computers, learners from four schools in the community will now have access to basic digital and computer literacy skills and courses.

“The launch of the first digital centre in the North-West Province not only reaffirms Liquid South Africa’s commitment to the province and the region; it reflects our commitment to empowering the country’s youth with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities essential to promoting their socio-economic advancement and inclusivity in the digital economy. We are proud to be contributing to the upliftment of individuals and communities through ongoing investments in programmes and initiatives such as this, aimed at bridging the digital divide,” said Deon Geyser, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies South Africa.

The launch of the computer centre is the latest investment by Liquid in the North-West Province, building on its very successful STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Digital Literacy programme aimed at enhancing these essential skills amongst the province’s Grade 11 and 12 learners, and its innovative Youth Tech Entrepreneurship Programme, which provides South Africa’s youth with advanced digital, technical, and entrepreneurial skills and capabilities.

Over 300 students from schools in the Makapanstad region of the North-West Province have already benefited from the STEM programme, with the latest intake including learners from host school Sempapa Secondary School, Kgaphamadi Secondary School, Matlaisane High School, and Sekitla Secondary School. The programme has already seen fantastic results, with the mathematics pass rate jumping from 11% to 84% after its first year, including 14 distinctions, and similar results achieved in the other subjects.

“Liquid Intelligent Technologies’ generous sponsorship of the new computer centre, as well as their investment in the STEM Digital Literacy programme will have a profound impact on learners and the broader community. Partnerships like this are critical in empowering the youth of the North-West Province, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the future of our province and our nation,” said Dr Tlhapi, Department of Education: Circuit Manager, North West.

Liquid’s significant investment in developing digital, STEM, and business skills amongst the youth of the North-West Province resonates with the company’s vision of a digitally connected future that leaves no African behind. These initiatives will provide the province’s youth with a solid foundation on which to further their tertiary studies, opening doors to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
