Earlier this week at the annual awards ceremony of the influential industry group Fibre To The Home (FTTH) Council Africa, Liquid Intelligent Technologies won the coveted “Infrastructure Innovation of the Year Award” for its new FTTH networks.
Earlier this year Liquid Intelligent Technologies launched its FTTH service in Zimbabwe through it’s ISP ‘ZOL’ which provides homes and SMEs with Internet access of up to 100Mbps, the fastest broadband available in Africa today. Liquid Intelligent Technologies is also launching a FTTH service on a wholesale and retail basis in Zambia, Kenya and Rwanda.
The judges were looking for an innovative new network deployment that has delivered measurable benefit for end users in a specific area. Liquid Intelligent Technologies’s FTTH networks were described as a turn-key deployment in both construction coordination and complete installation and the award recognised that the service has considerably improved connectivity in these areas.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies will be exhibiting at the annual AfricaCom conference in Cape Town, November 11-13 where it will be discussing its FTTH progress and plans for the future in more detail.
Liquid’s FTTH networks connect to what is now Africa’s largest single fibre backbone which runs from the north of Uganda to Cape Town. The network as a whole currently spans over 18,000km across borders, covering Africa’s fastest-growing economies.

Established in 2010, the FTTH Council Africa is an independent, not for profit organisation which believes that the development and deployment of fibre based broadband access networks will enhance the quality of life for citizens in Africa, providing African countries with an infrastructure which will increase their effectiveness and competitiveness within the global marketplace.
